This year, Citadel Technology, alongside parent company Synergy Technology, will be taking on the “Race the Sun” Coniston challenge on the 18th of September. This triathlon-style challenge has been created by Action Medical Research to raise funds to go towards vital research to help sick babies and children.
Our two teams on the day will be battling to complete a 17-mile bike ride, a 7-mile hike and a 2-mile kayak around the Lake District Nation Park in Coniston Cumbria.
The goal is to reach £4000 in total (split between the two teams of four), which will all be used by Action Medical Research to help save and change the lives of babies, children, and young people across the UK.
The Director of Citadel Technology, who will be participating in the event, explained why he chose to support this specific charity this year.
“After hearing from Lara Goddard from the Synergy Technology team that we will be taking part in the Race the Sun event this year, I was excited to participate.
I have always been up for a challenge, so I feel like a ‘dusk till dawn’ triathlon fits well! But the most important part is that we are raising awareness and funds for an amazing charity. I’m looking forward to heading up my team on the day and pushing ourselves to our limits. I hope that we can go above and beyond our fundraising goal to help support Action Medical Research, as well as help to make a difference to children’s lives”.
As mentioned, the Pure Synergy Group are entering two teams into the event. The team ‘Hughsey’s Heroes’, led by Andy Hughes, will consist of Tony Poole, Beth Wherry, and Rebecca Fawcett. The other team, ‘Synergy Sinners’, led by Synergy Technology’s Head of Sales Rachael Howard, will consist of John Turner, Pooja Gaurav, and Claire Pierce.

Who is Action Medical Research?
Starting out in 1952 to help find a cure for polio, Action Medical Research has been funding medical research and breakthroughs for nearly 70 years. Over the years, the charity has continued with researching and helping to prevent stillbirths, fight meningitis, and change the lives of thousands of children. With the current health crisis, they are helping to protect children in the fight against Covid-19, as well as tackling diseases and disabilities.
