The Citadel team are making a Difference this Movember

If you have never heard of the movement before, Movember are the global leading charity changing the face of men’s health. They are doing this by raising funds and awareness for men’s mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.

ver the past decade, it has become clearer that the stigma surrounding men’s health and speaking about their feelings has taken a massive toll of men’s lives. It has been proven that men are dying on average 6 years earlier than women, and it is mainly due to preventable reasons.

And yet, many people are unaware and are not taking actions to stop this.

In fact, one man dies by suicide every minute of every day across the world. Plus, testicular cancer is the most common cancer among men aged 15 – 39 years of age and more than 1.3 million men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year.

Many of these men suffer in silence for years, scared to turn to people for help and afraid of what people may think. Men experiencing the side effects of men health, cancer diagnosis and treatments should never have to feel alone. That is why Movember is standing up and making a difference.

Through the money raised, Movember connect with experts on a global scale, collaborating on projects that will change the way men in need are treated and supported. Their network allows for people to share research and results, accelerating progress and taking action.

It’s Time to Take Action

That is why this year, Citadel Technology will be taking part, alongside Synergy Technology and Caltech, deciding that it is time to step up to the plate once more. As a group, we will be doing our part to try and raise funds and awareness this Movember for all the dads, brothers, sons and mates in our lives.

Some of the team will be growing their marvellous moustaches and a few will be running/walking 60 kilometres throughout November. This year’s Move for Movember will be 60kms in total representing the 60 men we lose to suicide every hour.

As well as this, we have a couple of “moustache imposters” showing their support and cheering the team on! Our family extends beyond our office walls and computer screens, in which our team’s family and friends always love getting involved.

Over on our Twitter and LinkedIn, you will be able to keep track of the team’s progress as the month goes on. We will be showing off our moustaches as they grow and our scenic walks and runs. For the people who are deciding to take part in Move for Movember, they will ensure that they remain safe at all times in their fundraising efforts and follow lockdown guidelines.
