Introduction
Dawson Rogers Ltd, trading as Clair de Lune is a Greater Manchester-based manufacturer and distributor of infant products. Founded in 1943, the business is now led by the third generation of the Rodgers family and continues to balance innovation with a strong commitment to its heritage. In recognition of its sustainability efforts, Dawson Rogers achieved UK Sustainable Manufacturer status in 2022.
Having worked with the Pure Synergy Group for more than a decade, the business engaged with Citadel Technology and Synergy Technology to review its IT infrastructure and support future growth.
The Challenge
As the business grew, Dawson Rodgers recognised that its existing on-premise IT infrastructure was becoming increasingly costly and resource-intensive to maintain. The company faced ongoing expenditure associated with ageing hardware, rising support requirements and inefficient use of valuable office space.
The business wanted a more cost-effective and scalable approach that would reduce reliance on on-site equipment while improving the day-to-day management of its IT systems.
The Solution
Following a review of the existing environment, Citadel Technology recommended a new cloud-based IT strategy.
Working alongside Synergy Technology, Citadel developed a hosted solution that would support key business applications while reducing the need for
on-site infrastructure.
A proof-of-concept environment was quickly created and tested before the project moved into implementation. Citadel assigned a dedicated project lead to manage the migration, ensuring a structured rollout and minimal disruption to day-to-day operations.
The Results
By moving key services to the cloud, Dawson Rodgers significantly reduced its dependence on on-premise hardware while simplifying the management of backups, updates and other routine IT functions. Citadel assumed responsibility for ongoing support and maintenance, allowing employees to focus on core business activities rather than IT administration.
The transition was completed quickly, with user training and go-live taking place over just two working days. The new hosted environment provided greater flexibility and proved particularly valuable during periods when employees needed to work from different locations.
“Citadel has allowed us to remove a large, bulky server creating more storage and allowing us to focus on what is important
rather than IT. Throughout the pandemic, the continuity and ease of use from different work environments has been vital.”
– Jordan Wood, Head of Finance
The Future
With a modern cloud-based infrastructure now in place, Dawson Rodgers is well positioned to support future growth without the need for significant investment in on-site hardware. The business continues to benefit from a flexible IT environment that can adapt to changing operational requirements.
As technology requirements evolve, Citadel Technology remains a trusted partner, providing ongoing support and strategic guidance to help the business make the most of its investment in cloud
technology.
